Waipa District Council was looking for a partner for their SCADA system upgrade for district wide facility providing monitoring and control across the water and wastewater supply system. CTEK has successfully completed a comprehensive project that centered around delivering, configuring, and validating a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to mirror the existing infrastructure. This ambitious undertaking involved the deployment of the Aveva System Platform 2020 SCADA, which seamlessly integrated Aveva System Platform Historians, 7-day Historians, and the Win911 alarm management system.
The software solution was strategically rolled out across six treatment plants, each equipped with its dedicated SCADA system, and extended to monitor remote sites. A significant transformation took place as the SCADA system transitioned to a cloud-based environment, offering enhanced accessibility and scalability. CTEK further established a node at the Waipa District Council head office, providing a centralized view of the entire system.
Specifically customized for AVEVA OMI with the System Platform 2020 R2 version, the Waipa District Council’s SCADA system underwent optimization through CTEK’s development of OMI templates. These templates streamlined the creation of new screens by automatically presenting relevant content for the selected site. To expedite development further, CTEK utilized Choices and Objects wizards to construct objects, simplifying the addition and configuration of new equipment without the need for additional templates.
Emphasizing situational awareness, the application is designed to prioritize the operator’s attention to higher severity events and facilitate the capture of abnormalities before alarms are triggered. This proactive approach significantly enhances the operator’s responsiveness to critical situations.
