Tauranga City Council was looking for a partner to integrate control systems for their Waiāri Water Supply Scheme. This scheme is a new, state-of-the-art water treatment facility serving Tauranga. It comprises three key components: a water abstraction facility on Waiāri Stream, a treatment plant on No.1 Road in Te Puke, and an underground pipeline to Papamoa.
Tauranga City Council engaged CTEK to provide System Integration Support for the Waiari WTP project. First, the team collaborated on PLC and SCADA standards and network configuration. They also carried out control system reviews for both Waiari WTP and the Raw Water Intake.
Next, CTEK configured PLC and SCADA systems for the Raw Water Pump Station and Balance of Plant. In addition, the team integrated PLC code and SCADA configuration for the Microfiltration Plant. CTEK also supported pre-commissioning, commissioning, and the plant trial period. Furthermore, the team delivered comprehensive training sessions throughout the project.
Currently, ongoing work focuses on integration support for the new plant. CTEK is collaborating with the TCC team to finalise a set of SCADA standards. These standards are being developed through a series of workshops. The approach uses modular, object-based configuration. As a result, the program covers plant and process area overviews, critical control points, alarm summaries, and banner presentations.
